Thursday, February 16–Sunday, February 19, 2023

We would be delighted if you could join us for the preview day of Frieze Los Angeles on Thursday, February 16, followed by the Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award announcement. The fair is taking place at an exciting new venue spanning two sites at Santa Monica Airport: a bespoke Frieze tent, designed by Kulapat Yantrasast’s WHY studio, and the nearby Barker Hanger.

20th century focus

The expanded footprint of the fair will allow for a wider selection of galleries featuring 20th century art, with an emphasis on showing work by overlooked figures and rarely seen practices. These participants will be shown in the Barker Hanger, which sits adjacent to the main Frieze tent on the airport property.

Twenty years, together with Frieze

2023 marks our 20th year in partnership with Frieze. It is a relationship that deepens with every fair and we are very proud of what we continue to achieve together. Over the years, the fair has spread far and wide, raising the profile of contemporary art and giving artists a powerful platform to display their work – and push the conversation forward.

The Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award

Presented in collaboration with Fifth Season and the non-profit academy, Ghetto Film School (GFS), these awards recognise the talent and dedication of nine emerging Los Angeles-based filmmakers. This year, the films produced by the fellows will be inspired by the theme, ‘Exploring Identity’.

Film Awards Ceremony

The winners of the 2023 Jury Prize and Audience Award will be announced during the fair, on Thursday, February 16. The ceremony will start at 6pm in the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Lounge and will feature welcome speeches followed by the announcement.
